I am only beginning my research on Auschwitz so this gave me quick insight to the worst death camp of the Holocaust. I had just seen a documentary which mentioned the female guard and how vicious she was, but even I had no clue as to the extent of her cruelty towards female prisoners. The other two short stories gave the reader a view into what they would do to survive. Now that I have "met" them I plan to check out more in-depth info on each if possible. My research continues.

The Auschwitz Trilogy Three Unique Biographies from AuschwitzBirkenau eBook Cynthia Southern Vern Southern Reviews

Even tho I was warned of it being 3 stories, they were just too short. To me it seemed like more of an outline.
$2.99 won't buy you a decent chocolate sundae anymore. But even if it did, how much better to spend it on something that's going to stay in your imagination forever, namely the strange and horrific story of the bestial SS killer Irma Griese, and the equally unforgettable if heroic account of the beautiful and brave Franceska Mann, a Jew who had the guts to take another SS killer to the grave with her.
I haven't tasted the finale of Ms. Southern's trilogy yet, but if it's as edible an offering as the other two, it's the cherry atop this digital sundae.
$2.99? Even if the Holocaust isn't your thing, what have you got to lose? Three powerful if brief stories, that's what. Besides, your dentist (not to mention an ex-history teacher or two) would be proud of you.
Cynthia Southern has written three short but informative and fascinating books about the Holocaust. Firstly, we have a biography of one of the most horrendous stooges of the Nazi regime, the notorious and sadistic Irma Grese, known as The Blonde Beast of Birkenau. Ms Southern gives us a brief account of Grese’s upbringing and her willing conversion to Nazi ideology. Grese was executed by the British at the age of just 22 the youngest woman executed by the British during the 20th century.

Then we have the short but fascinating tale which the author describes as “one of the most extraordinary acts of resistance” when, in Auschwitz-Birkenau on 23 October 1943, a beautiful Polish dancer, Franceska Mann, shot and killed an SS man.

Finally, we have ‘A Letter from Auschwitz’, written on 6 April 1941 by a Polish Jew called Julian Dębiec and in which Ms Southern provides the background and context.

All in all, an absorbing look into three largely-forgotten aspects of the Holocaust for which the author deserves great credit in helping to ensure they are not lost to history.
Very good, and sad.
Good book, good
Very realistic and well written. Easy read. Liked it very much.
